Stryper is a Christian glam metal group from the 1980s. On my blog schedule they are sandwiched between two entirely opposite groups, Motley Crue and Ozzy Osbourne.
Stryper was the first Christian metal group that was successful in the main stream. They were so successful that they actually managed to do better than Bon Jovi and Motley Crue’s albums in Japan. Ozzy Osbourne liked them and two thirds of people who bought Stryper albums consider themselves non Christians.
Stryper went to many metal fans and would throw them Bibles and teach them the gospel through their metal music while trying to reach some of the people who were farthest from being saved. Considered the best Christian metal group of all time, they have certainly had an influence on both metal and Christian music.
To Hell With the Devil was considered their most successful album. Although I am not sure about this To Hell With the Devil seems to be a parody of another popular metal album by Motley Crue called Shout At the Devil that was infamous for having a pentagram on its original album cover. To Hell With the Devil is the title song of that album and one of Stryer’s best, most quintessential songs.
