The great commandment is discussed, which is about loving God and other people. The Jewish people are established as God’s chosen people. People would be blessed for obeying God, but if they became too used to their blessings and rebelled against the Lord they would also be punished. This is a cycle that would repeat itself many times with God’s people in the Old Testament with good times, sin, punishment and repeats. It would later be taken care of when Jesus died on the cross for our sins, which also eliminated the need for sacrifices for every sin.
